Surfing has taken me to a lot of places in the world, but I never thought it would take me to Chicago and onto the Great Lakes.
— James Pribram

Chicago 2009

In 2009 James Pribram traveled to Chicago and the Great Lakes to film for Fuel TV and his documentary. He with local environmental activists and surfers to talk about water quality, development- the usual suspects. He was shocked to find out that, in some parts of Chicago surfing is actually illegal…and there are plenty of surfers in the area who want to see that change. Pribram set out challenge the status quo by paddling out right in front of downtown and the ‘Miracle Mile’, not sure if he would be hauled off to jail in his wetsuit. He managed to make his case for the surfing community without getting arrested, and got some incredible footage in the process.
